http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_note

I withdrew 20k on BPI ATM today, all serial numbers are in order (DU207526 to DU207565) except for 1.
DU207542 is missing, and *4157125 is exactly where DU207542 should be.

It is possible that DU207542 got damaged and needed to be replaced.

So what if someone got a hold of DU207542? Twisted Evil

it would've been destroyed first before a replacement note can be issued otherwise you'll end up having more money out there than what is actually is intended to be circulated. that results in an increase in inflation.

if you're talking about a damaged note that is still circulating, banks are legally mandated to accept these notes for replacement as long as 3/5 of the paper is still there and not all of the signatures are lost.
