i got this invitation and i just want to attend.. of the more than 500 items, i studied a hundred and came to see fifty items..but of the twelve items i wanted to bid on, a lot of people were also there for it.. example an item described as COIN, SPAN-PHIL., QUARTO, 1830 with TIPO of P350 went for more than P1,500 (my estimate was P500 only).. another surprise, COIN USA BARBER DIME, 1915S VF P250 went for P1,500+ (i guess it at P500 only).. and the eye opener was this.. EXCAVATED OLD CHINESE COIN tipo of P25, i think of P250 and it went for P1,500+... i just have to have a lot of nerves attending this auctions..

I realize a lot of people still use very outdated catalogues. Even the new ones (2012), which I'm using, are quite inaccurate, for both US and Philippine coins as well as for all other countries. Based on experience and regardless of how updated your reference books are, I can tell you that you should expect higher prices, of sometimes, up to more than 3x, depending on the rarity of a coin. If you are using the world catalogue, chances are you are being misguided by the indicated values.
