| The Maria Theresa Thaler is one of my favorite coins, but this in particular interests me because of the "excess" detail on the head of Maria Theresa... can you spot it? ( looks like a stick on top of her head) I used to stare at this coin, together with the normal one, always amazed by the difference  JUst want to share... | I am not a pro of the Maria Theresa Thaler but when ever i see here an excample in good condition and somebody like to offer it to me i tell them the following.
In the last 30 Years as long i could remember this coin everbody could buy as a "Real Copy" in European Silver Shops In Germany and other European Countrys. When the silver was down the price was arround 300 peso. I belive it is the most copied coin ever. Dont waste your money with it. The chance to get a real one is like to find a 1830 Manila Counterstamp. The good thing its silver... |

| HI Bantayan, actually you are correct... only very few pcs were recognized and recorded worldwide... what i have is definitely not original (but i find it beautiful regardless of that fact) , mine is a MODERN RESTRIKE ... struck more than 300,000 times worldwide ... i am aware of this, however, i have a question... does the fact that it is a RE-Strike mean that it is FAKE or counterfeit? |

I have about 3 of the coins and based on things i've found out about the coin, it is considered as one of the most beautiful coins in the world.
A RE-STRIKE Maria Theresa Thaler is an authentic and genuine coin.

thanks! that's what i thought so too... its just that it sounded bad when i read that it is not original... some might assume that it is actually fake, atleast someone confirmed what i had in mind.. |
