Just want to share the images of this rare coin error, the 1804 CARLUS IIII 8 REALES. One of the 2 legends of the 8 reales error. The other being the 1870 error 1807 CAROLUS IIII 8 REALES which I also have, however this specimen has been proven as a contemporary counterfeit and amazingly only found in the Philippines.

The error is so rare that no specimen was sold in the past and Krause has no available specimen because there was not a single sales record. The error is more amazing because it has several chopmarks and counterstamps or countermarks which proves that it circulated around here in Asia.

Regarding 1807 Carolus IIII 8 reales is there any error on that coin as you mentioned of 2 legend errors. Can you please post that one because I do have one of it. I am researching the mintage of it but nowhere to found, how rare it is , i can grade mine to VF, i'll try post it one, also have a 1743 2 reales dos mundos only in fine condition.

The error there is date 1870 instead of 1807 which is actually way beyond Carolus IIII reign and life. Here is the coin's image. Regarding the mintage, there is no mintage indicated in Krause but the date 1807 Carolus IIII 8 reales is fairly common with the exception of the variety 1807/6 which is scarce and the 1870 which is very rare and so far, most specimen have been documented to have surfaced only here in the Philippines.
