Hello everyone, while buying a coin lot of maravedis, octavos and quartos, I have noticed a rare 1 quarto 1824 (5 known specimens)! I spent almost three hours checking if I really got the 1824 and I finally realized that I really have it. Although, parts of the coin was already corroded (need to scan it to show to everyone) but what the heck, it is rare! Been searching for it for years already (including the 1867 Isabel 4P!). Anyway, just want to share to you guys and this just to tell everyone that how rare the coin is, you can still find it! Keep the faith!

Signore, in Basso Coin Catalog (you may check also on this website http://www.manilagalleontrade.webs.com) only five specimen known and considered as extremely rare. I dont know if there is a value in Krause or just dash. Means, it depends on the condition of the coin and how much the seller will sell it. I am not dreaming that my quarto will cost a fortune as the condition is not as good as my other quartos. MGT, correct me if I am wrong, those type copper coins have a different way of grading it compared to newer coins.

The coin will not be gradable by a third party grading company because the planchet had an open crack. It is considered a damage already. I've experienced this when I submit my 14th century British hammered shilling. EWY

Yes the coin will not be gradable and the 5 known in Basso was in 1972. Krause has a price for it, meaning more coins have appeared after 1972 and mintage is unknown.
