| A friend directed me to an Internet article re Singapore International Coin Fair 2011. It was held last May 2011, and we hardly knew about it, but they announced there that there will be doing it again for 2012. Singapore is very accessible to most of us.. Hope our group can do project for next time around. |

Those were the days, gone were those days. |

Does this means that numismatic is dying here in the Philippines? What could have been the factors? I know that younger generations now except for the few doesn't care and appreciate much about these coins anymore except to spend it. |

@Newbie - I'm sorry, but you're barking at the wrong tree... PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THREAD CAREFULLY BEFORE JUMPING AT YOUR CONCLUSION THAT I WAS THE ONE SAYING " mga mukhang tambay sa Quiapo " .
Even then, I respect the opinion of the poster. I may or may not agree with his statement but that's his observation and opinion. If you disagree with his statement, then address him directly your though and displeasure. Konti nalang tayo dito nag popost, mag away2x pa... |

Di naman siguro namamatay ang numismatic sa bansa natin (not yet) but the problem is we are declining. Dapat siguro paunlarin pa natin ang pagtuturo ng numismatic sa next generation by doing some exhibits and school seminars.

Noon kasi mostly mga auction attendees galing pa ng abroad para lang mamili, some are doing research, others are representative from other numismatic clubs abroad. |

i agree with this one. we went to san francisco early this year and visited a local coin dealer there and he had a LOT of philippine proof sets which he was selling for less than the then current spot price of silver. he told us that a lot of the philippine silver coins that were brought into the US were melted for their silver. |
