In my experience as a collector, you should be a risk-taker in order to enjoy the hobby. "Numismatic" is not an exact science. Set aside effort and budget for errors and mistakes. Don't be afraid to commit minor and few mistakes. If you'll gonna adhere to the "play-it-safe" side of the hobby, you'll end-up buying expensive and unreasonably priced coins. Not all coin seller knows coins and not all that buy coins are hobbyist otherwise. Learn how to be passionate with the hobby. Remember, mistakes are our best teachers.
