New Banknotes

It just happens like always that a lot of people are discussing the new set of paper money (banknotes). I had been to the bank for almost every other day these last two weeks, and although they got lots of crisp / uncirculated very new paper money, it is not the new issue, but still like the old style Arroyo issues. The bank tellers told me that they probably will have the new ones in January. The coins, although shown on television being handed to the President, will take a longer time before we can get hold of it. meanwhile, I just have to listen to all the controversy about the new bills. My friends and relatives are also asking what are they talking about the new bills when it not yet widely circulated and almost everybody do not have it yet..

Hi guys! Sorry to butt in, but since were talking about our NGC (New Generation Currency) banknote series, and its does seems like a hot topic lately considering that it won IACA awards. I'd like to share my insight on these so called banknote errors.

Early on, I was one of those who criticize our money for its errors, but a friend of mine once said, "Its not a science book, to be so accurate with those scientific names. Its not a map, to be so precise to have 7107 islands. Its not a photograph to be so accurate down to the very smallest pixel. Remember its a paper money." Then I smiled and realized his point.

Exactly. These notes are a work of art. They are not a science endeavor, and the designers may have taken some liberties. All artists do that. But these notes are world-class, the recognition has been largely positive since the initial media flap, and they open a bold new chapter in Philippine numismatic history. Let's celebrate!

Yup, its a masterpiece as it is. The team who worked on our NGC banknotes did an awesome job! Still looking forward for our new coins…
