| Here's something i recently acquired. Pardon the quality of the pics. My cam isn't good with close-ups. APEC Philippine Gold Proof 2000 - Piso Coin Denomination: 2000 Piso Quality: Proof Diameter: 27mm Shape/Edge: Round/Milled Weight: 10 gms Fine Gold Weight: 5 gms (0.169oz) Composition: 50% gold, 45% silver Issue Limit: 3000 pieces Year of Issue: 1996 It comes with a certificate from the Royal Mint. FN believes that the foreign dignitaries were given this during the summit. I did a little research and i came across a news clipping (manila times i think) from 1996 where BSP was announcing the sale of this issue for P4000.00. I'm guessing this issue was intended as a souvenir for the foreign dignitaries and what was left behind was eventually released to the buying public. This probably explains why this is so hard to find. the 3k mintage is deceiving because only a part of that was made available to the buying public. Exactly how many, i dont know. But the rest are scattered around the world for sure. Just don't expect those people to be releasing their souvenir to the market soon. the 36th edition (2008) of krause doesn't list this coin yet despite being minted 12 years earlier. I believe the 37th edition has it already. Any idea on its current market value, here and abroad? Computing its value in actual gold weight alone, it's about $196. It's silver weight is about $3. I think krause's initial listing is $220 or barely a $20 difference. i think that amount is still undervalued. |

| Low mintage. Every lower distribution. APEC Summits are a perennial favorite with numismatists. Combine that with the only portrait of Fidel V. Ramos I know of on a coin, and a president whose stature and significance to the country will grow in time and, yes, I agree the piece is undervalued. |

That's a good observation. It is indeed the first and only coin thus far that has the portrait of Ramos. I guess i really am fortunate to have gotten a bunch for a song. |

| I also have this coin. I personally went to the Central Bank to purchase this coin last 1997 for P4,000. and there is no limit on how many pieces you can buy as long as you have the bread. This piece is undervalued and i'm not surprised about it. Philippines belong to the third world country and its modern numismatic item is not that popular to the international collectors. So the demand are not that great even the mintage are pretty scarce. The most widely collected world coins are U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, China and Australia. They are the most sought after and so the price too. Krause 2010 catalog list the market value for $225.00 only. They did not update and research the price very well for most coins which are very disappointing. They're only particular if there is a new issue coming out of the mint. I think Ebay are much better when comes to the right price. Try collecting much older pieces like the Spanish Philippines or USPI coins. They are more challenging and widely in demand by international collectors. The price vary much higher which doesn't follow the Krause catalog obsolete price.

| Just visit the BSP office in Pasay, they will accommodate you there. I don't know if there are still bullion coins available. But notes and UNC coins that are still in use are plentiful. |
