| VF or EF? The person i got this from thinks it's EF. A person from coincom says it's VF. I saw a few graded coins (but no 1746) VF was too worn out but EF was too detailed. IN the PNAS nov 22 auction the dos mundos there was graded EF and i thought it looked the same with my coin. What do you guys think? |

| It depends upon the grading standard being used by different coin graders but in my opinion it is safe to say that it is a VF+ or what we call VF-EF. The coin has nice details and appear to be not cleaned. Is this yours? Borg |

Yes it's mine. i think it's VF+ also but is VF+ technically a grade? i always thought that "+" grades are given to those coins that could go either way until PCGS ANACS etc grades it. |

| The grading standard for VF is VF-20 to VF-35 with an increment of 5 in between. Technically what Borg means is the grade ranges in between. In my opinion it should fall to VF-35. Nice coin by way, it is an expensive coin. May I ask how much did you buy it and where? thanks |

| Now i get it thanks. I got this from ebay and won it by mistake. I was supposed to enter $150.15 as my final bid ten seconds before it was to close. In my haste, i entered $150,15 because my keyboard is small. I did not realize that i entered a comma instead of a decimal point. So my bid of 150,15 became $15,015 instead! So automatically i would be the highest bidder no matter what since no one would enter 15k for that coin. It closed at $182.50. It was more than what i was initially willing to pay but it was still reasonably within the market range i think because it looked nice unlike most specimens that looked cleaned so i decided to get it. I was just relieved that no one else entered an outrageous amount. Although until now i haven't really fully paid for it yet since i havent seen the credit card billing statement yet. Lesson learned, never enter cent bids especially when you are half asleep and your keyboard is small. |

| That's a good buy at $182! Buti na lang walang "reserve price" kundi malamang baka nabaon ka sa credit card bills. |

But still I'm for a happy ebaying, once you may feel -you need to return the coin, I would be glad to refund inclusive of the shipment fee pls let me know. btw, Dic you have a nice avatar of a cory gold coin... Regards to all... |

| I also agree with FN's grading opinion of VF-35. When a pillar dollar reaches a condition of EF grade, luster is usually faintly seen around the peripheral areas. That's my experience on my pillar collections. EWY |

| Hi All. New to the forum, but had been collecting a few Dos Mundos / Columnaria since the 1990s. Also go scammed with a few ones. I would also agree that its a VF+. I usually base my personal grading on the 'plus' and 'vltra' ribbons on the Pillar, and expand from there. Clarity of the globes also matter. |
