How rare is the 1885 10centavo silver coin in VF grade? there's one right now at eBay about to end. it's in the 1 USdollar starting line, and nobody seems to want to bid, which is equivalent to Peso 50? why the disinterest? it's lower than melt value. Comments pls Smile

It is the most common among the 10 cents denomination of the Alfonso XII coinage. Not that scarce but surely a bargain at .99 in VF and can be grabbed even if it goes up to 5$. If it is .99 and the item is already ending and you are wondering why there are no takers yet. Check at the shipping cost, most likely that is the reason why there are no bidders. Otherwise, watchers have lcoked in their bids using automatic sniping software which would steal the item and shoot in the final seconds. Very Happy

thanks kolektor, you are right, shipping starts at US$1.50 for US, higher going elsewhere. Do you know a dealer located locally where colonial Spanish coins available? that woud save me some shipping charges. thanks again Smile

I don't recommend a single dealer because the trade is difficult to understand especially when you are talking of "supply and demand". Visit the local auctions and try to understansd first the trade before you build your collection. Because when dealers over estimated your financial capacity, they would offer coins to you at much higher prices. We call that "tuition fees". Pero pag naintidihan mo na ang kalakalan, madali na lang makipag tawaran. Goodluck! Very Happy

thanks kolektor, yes on that, its difficult sometimes to focus on the coin targets one is collecting. That 1885 5c coin is totally out of my collecting target area, but when I saw it, it does look good, so there's that sudden expense again Very Happy

I know how you feel. I thought i knew what my target collecting area was. then suddenly i end up acquiring something totally out of my league and know very little about. Problema sakin minsan madaling masilaw. But at the end of the day i'm happy looking at it and holding the 2x2. you target coins but sometimes coins target you as well.
